Serve Up Safety – Fire Prevention Week 2020
At Red River Mutual, we believe in the importance of loss prevention and being proactive about safety. We also know that good prevention begins with education.
Every year in October, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) promotes Fire Prevention Week, which is dedicated to sharing accessible materials to educate people about fire risks and safety. This year, the week runs from October 4 – 10 with the campaign “Serving Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen!™”.
The number one cause of home fires and home fire injuries is cooking, and unattended cooking is the leading cause of kitchen fires. Regardless of statistics, it’s always important to understand the risks associated with cooking to help prevent any fire related accidents.
To help spread awareness about these risks, we’ve put together a list of tips for kitchen fire safety here and you can watch our video to see what you should keep an eye out for when cooking in the kitchen below.
The more you talk about fire prevention, the easier it becomes. We encourage everyone to visit the Fire Safety Resources page on our website to learn more about how to stay fire safe no matter what you’re doing.
Let’s all do our best to reduce risk and serve up safety!
