Red River Mutual Hosts Community Barbeque for a Cause
On July 14, 2017, Red River Mutual staff hosted a community barbeque to raise funds for the Manitoba Camping Association’s Sunshine Fund, which helps send deserving children to camp each summer.
With the support of staff and the community, Red River Mutual raised $1,000 for the Sunshine Fund. The funds raised will stay in Manitoba and will help the Manitoba Camping Association reach its 2017 goal of sending 1,000 kids to camp.
Kim Scherger, Executive Director at the Manitoba Camping Association, said, “We really do believe that every child – regardless of race, faith, family income, or special needs – deserves the opportunity to go to camp and experience an environment where everyone belongs. At camp, children are learning the life skills and the confidence they need to help them grow into well-adjusted teenagers and adults.”
Megan Ursel, Red River Mutual Social Committee member, said, “We are delighted to have been able to be a part of this fundraiser and help the children in our communities. Many of us remember attending summer camps as children and the lasting friendships and memories we share to this day.”
