Red River Mutual and IBAS Continue Young Community Leaders Bursary Support
At Red River Mutual, our purpose is to be a positive force in the lives of our customers and communities. As part of this commitment, we strive to support others in our communities who are also making a positive impact and want to be involved in their stories however we can.
Together with Insurance Brokers Association of Saskatchewan, we have continued our partnership to present the IBAS Young Community Leader Bursary. This prestigious award was established in 2020 to recognize one outgoing grade 12 student in Saskatchewan who exemplifies outstanding dedication to making their community a better place.
We’re excited to share that the young individual selected to receive the $7,000 award this year is Sung Park from Regina, Saskatchewan. An immigrant to Regina from South Korea at the age of five, Park founded the Stargivers Initiative in 2020 — a not-for-profit organization created to support the homeless community through COVID-19 by providing essential safety kits, which included items like face masks and hand sanitizer. Since then, the project has expanded its mandate, and has raised and donated more than $15,000 in funds and in-kind contributions.
You can read IBAS’ article with more information about the bursary and Park’s community involvement here.
We’re continuously inspired by young people like Park in our community who work to make a positive difference, and we’re honoured to support Park’s story with this bursary as she works toward the next chapter.
