Effective April 10, 2023, Red River Mutual has appointed Brenda Gibson, CPA, CA, CIP, as President and Chief Executive Officer of the company.

“Coming from a family farming background in southern Manitoba, and a long tenured career with a mutual insurance company, there is already strong alignment with Red River Mutual,” says Gibson. “I am excited for the opportunity to continue to build on the company’s strong foundation through growth and diversification.”

Gibson brings over 17 years of broad insurance experience and a passion for community and mutuality. Having held a series of senior leadership roles in both finance and insurance, and most recently having had responsibility for a Canadian personal insurance portfolio of $2.2B in annual gross written premiums, Brenda understands both the Canadian landscape and the value of broker partnerships.

She is a graduate of the University of Manitoba, having received her Bachelor of Commerce (Honours). She also holds designations of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Chartered Insurance Professional designation (CIP) from the Insurance Institute of Canada.

Gibson joins Red River Mutual as the company embarks on an ambitious strategy, which includes major advancements in technology, data and innovation.
