St. Benedict Community & District Curling Club
St. Benedict, SK
Curling has been the heartbeat of St Benedict for almost 90 years, bringing people from town and surrounding communities together. Many generations have curled on the rink’s natural ice surface – something that is becoming a rarity! The communities love to gather in the rink to enjoy a homemade burger and desserts and watch players of all skill levels in bonspiels. Many community members also enjoy watching and participating in weekly curling games. About 6 years ago, the rink’s roof structure started to collapse and was beyond repair. A new volunteer board decided to save the rink and rebuild it. Solely with the help of volunteers and community members, a new rink was built and was funded entirely from fundraising and sponsorships. Our existing entrance is still part of the original rink, but is in desperate need of updating.
New steps to get into the rink, and to make the entrance wheelchair accessible. This would allow for easier and safer access for community members.
