Concern for Youth House

North Battleford, SK

Concern for Youth (CFY) moved to their current space in midst of the pandemic in the summer of 2020 to provide a more central location to schools, closer proximity to communities by public transit and, and to offer more amenities like staff offices, programming storage, and greenspace in the yard; however, their basement is currently an unfinished space with potential to offer more programming.

Currently, if CFY provides programming for older youth, they often have to rent out spaces, particularly any that are utilizing any form of cooking, which is costly. There is also a lack of availability for spaces in the community that youth organizations can use for programming like this, especially ones that are able to provide flexible space that can grow and evolve with the needs and interests of youth and their supporting organizations. The community lacks spaces where youth feel welcomed to hang out with their friends and to be messy, creative, and silly – something the youth themselves have requested through their annual Youth Forum.

They plan to renovate a portion of the basement at CFY to be able to strengthen our partnership, strengthen our programming, increase opportunities for youth, and better utilize space that is available.
