Agape House
Steinbach, Manitoba
Agape House wants to make repairs and renovations to turn its house into a community space accessible to clients, community partners, staff, and volunteers.
The space will be used to:
-
- Hold support groups for women, youth, children, and men who have experienced or witnessed gender-based violence.
- Start a community closet. This project entails transforming Agape’s basement into a client-centred community closet, benefiting its clients facing economic and family violence hardships by providing free access to quality clothing in a welcoming environment.
- Address a critical need within Steinbach’s community, ensuring that individuals can allocate their limited resources toward other essential needs, while fostering dignity, confidentiality, and self-confidence through clothing choice.
- Hold community presentations to bring further awareness on gender-based violence, community partnership meetings, volunteer trainings and meetings, and interviews.
Agape House serves all demographics, including Indigenous persons, newcomers to Canada, and vulnerable and at-risk populations.
