Abbey Business and Community Centre

The Abbey Business and Community Centre provides artistic, cultural, educational, health, fitness, and recreational activities within an inclusive organization that fosters well-being and community. Volunteers have rallied to maintain and update the building, recently fundraising over a quarter million dollars to replace the entire roof and heating system.

They are now turning their attention to the extremely under-utilized outdoor space. The project includes planting trees, plants, and grass, as well as installing tables, benches, and an outdoor grilling area. The space will be used for farmers markets, art classes, meetings, kids activities, and more.

It will create a stronger, more resilient community by bringing members together, improving the wellness of residents by getting them outside and socializing, encouraging activity in kids, creating a safe gathering place, and improving the aesthetics of a public space. Currently, the town does not have a public outdoor space where residents can suitably host various events or family picnics and playdates.
