Wyber Tullymet Community Hall
Balcarres, SK
The rural municipality of Tullymet, Saskatchewan does not have a town within its boundaries, so the Wyber Tullymet Community Hall has become a hub of activities for its rural residents. The board has rebuilt and insulated the floor in the kitchen, and they’ve also installed propane heat to help with electricity bills. A new roof replaced the old one about ten years ago. Now, the board is looking to increase the insulation in the roof and re-side and insulate the exterior.
Recently, a family of woodpeckers began to take up residence in the exterior walls of the hall. While the board has tried to fill the holes by putting up exterior decor to deter the birds, they have come to the decision that the best solution would be to install tin siding on the building’s exterior.
Once this project is complete, the exterior of the building would be 100% finished and maintenance-free, as this is the last component to be completed in the hall renovations. The renovation would include blown-in insulation in the roof, stopping and insulation on the exterior walls, and the new tin siding.
