Boys and Girls Clubs of The Battlefords
North Battleford, SK
“Our beloved Club is bursting at the seams, and the youth really appreciate having their own space, away from the younger children they would often otherwise babysit.”
Project Overview: Basement Renovation
Location: North Battleford, SK
Year: 2020
Amount: $35,900
The Boys & Girls Clubs of The Battlefords (BGCB) has been serving the children and youth of its communities since 1976, offering a respectful haven of encouragement and support through teamwork and belonging. The Club is an inclusive space that brings together children and youth with diverse backgrounds and life experiences, and it works to promote education, healthy lifestyle choices, cross-cultural understanding, and psychological well-being in a fun and welcoming environment.
They even have snacks! In 2019 alone, they served over 33,000 meals and snacks to their members, some of whom may have otherwise gone without. This is only one of many reasons that the surrounding community voted to award the Club with numerous Best of the Battlefords Awards, including Best Family Program and Best Non-Profit.
Because the BGCG has over 450 young members, they became concerned that they would need to turn away up to 80 youth in order to maintain safe social distancing within their walls. Luckily, Red River Mutual is providing $35,900 to help spruce up their basement space in order to accommodate their Husky Energy Youth Program.
